We are a retired couple from Trondheim, Norway, and we are now home after having a 4 week vacation in Sicily in February/March. The first 18 days we spent at C’era una Volta in the wonderful baroque town of Scicli. Our lovely hostess Francesca gave us good advice before leaving home, also that February in Sicily is their winter-time. So we did bring warm clothes with us, thanks to her advice. We had a really good time at C’era una volta. The house was well equipped and in good order, a really nice „home away from home.“ Everything we needed for making food and living was there, and we liked very much the way the old house was taken care of when rehabilitated. On the roof terrace we had some nice hours when the weather was warm and sunny enough. We made much of our meals at home, thanks to the fresh and tasty vegetables and fruits, meat and other food that we could buy in Scicli. All the way Francesca did the best she could so that we should have a nice stay. We were picked up at arrival, she took us to a trip down to the ocean at Sampieri, and even made us a meal of caponata, which was delicious! As we speak very little Italian, and the Scicli people speak very little English, she helped out to rent a car and other practical things. When leaving Scicli for our next stay in Siracusa, she drove us to the railway station in the morning. Thanks to Francesca and her family we felt that we had experienced a really nice time in Scicli, living almost like the real „Sciclitans“ for a little while!
